Ashleigh & Burwood’s stunning ornamental lamps utilise a century-old catalytic combustion technique that filters airborne odour-causing molecules. In addition the fragrance contained within the lamp is emitted to provide a gentle fragrance to the room. The lamp compares favourably to other room fragrance products delivering fragrance safely and efficiently with additional air cleansing benefits.
The Ashleigh & Burwood Fragrance Lamps’ key functional benefits are three-fold:
- by removal of allergens; mould, dust mites and bacteria
- by removal of odour molecules, including cigarette smoke, cooking
- and pet odours
- fragrance is spread evenly and quickly
The Ashleigh & Burwood Fragrance Lamp utilises a form of catalytic combustion to function, working much like the Catalytic Convertor on a car. The Catalytic "Stone" on the top of the lamp is lit to produce a flame which raises the stone to working temperature (the catalytic convertor on a car only works when it has reached its operating temperature). Once at working temperature (approximately 2 minutes), the flame is extinguished and the lamp continue to work as long as there is fuel (fragranced or neutral) in the lamp.
The heat from the stone causes convection currents, circulating the air in the room. As the warmed air rises above the hot stone, cooler room air is drawn to the bottom of the stone. The Ashleigh & Burwood catalytic stone is made of a porous ceramic coated in Platinum and other rare metals which enables it to work as a catalyst (catalysts work by speeding up chemical reactions without resorting to very high temperatures). As complex molecules in the air such as allergens and those that create bad odours reach the stone, they are destroyed by the catalytic process.
The lamp can either be used solely for its purifying effects by selecting the Ashleigh & Burwood Neutral Lamp fuel, or by selecting one of the many Ashleigh & Burwood lamp fragrances or aromatherapy blends, the lamp will simultaneously purify the air and dispersing fragrance into the room.
Our lamp technology has been independently tested by respected international laboratories. The summary of findings is found below:
Ashleigh & Burwood’s Fragrance Lamp technology was effective against allergens including mould, dust mites and bacteria.
Dust Mites: 99% mortality rate after 90 minutes of exposure
Bacteria (E. Coli): 99% mortality rate after 3 hours of exposure
Mould Spores: Greater than 60% mortality rate after 3 hours of exposure
Independent tests also substantiate the de-odorising ability of the Ashleigh & Burwood Fragrance Lamp, finding that a room of volume 45m3 was effectively “de-odorised” within 30 minutes of lighting the lamp containing neutral fuel.
